Cognitive dissonance

Cognitive dissonance is when two ideas or subjects are colliding in your mind and creates tension. Therefore you want to reduce this tension by persuading yourself on one idea over the other, so as to make yourself feel better about the choice you made. The example of quitting smoking as a cognitive dissonance is very useful being that my dad used to be a smoker I can defiantly relate to that because it was hard for him to quit something that made him feel good even if you know its bad. It causea tension because you want both things and they collide with one another.

Single again

Just wanted to put my thoughts down.

I'm in a constant battle with myself. Never seem to be fully satisfied. When I'm single, having a great time, and doing what I want; I feel like I'm missing out on the cuddling, kissing, holding hands, laughing, intimacy and overall passion that relationships are all about. When I'm in a relationshiop or dating exclusively, I seem to feel the need to be single. I have a great time when I'm alone with the person, but I don't like PDA and I don't like having to be the babysitter and focus all my attention on my guy all the time. I'M A HUGE FLIRT! I can't help it; it's me being outgoing, fun, and nice...I wish people didn't take it the wrong way, but it happens. I just need a guy who is confident with themselves and can trust me...he's the one I'm going home with at the end of the night. I'm not one to be caged; he should be able to fly with me.

Random Thoughts

How lucky are we to be alive? To live, to feel, to do, to just be! It is absolutely amazing. This thing we call life. It can be so predictable and yet so absurdly random at the same time. Life can take on any characteristic, on any spectrum...it can hold two complete opposites and balance itself out. It can be really rough at times and yet I feel that whatever happens can only make you stronger and build character. Life is all about people, the people that we come into contact with, the people that we share our lives with...Life is about the experiences, memories, and what makes oneself truly happy. People are so blinded by power, greed, lust, war, etc. that many people don't get to live out the simple pleasure of life. In the end I just want to know myself, have a career I'm passionate for, be with a man who is undoubtedly the one for me, and then live a life; it could involve having kids, traveling, working nonstop, etc. Life is too short to dwell on regrets, drama, stress at work, etc. I want to make it all it can be.
